About Theatre Firsts

Do you remember your first time?

#theatrefirstie

“My three grandchildren were captivated by the
performance and loved the “alternative” sandcastle.
I was delighted to experience such a unique
performance and enjoy my grandchildren’s response.”

Audience Member on Circles in the Sand, Gala Durham, 2013
Doing something for the first time can often make it special and for lots of people, whether you're 1 or 81, your first visit to the theatre was memorable. Perhaps it was shared with some of the most important people in your life, maybe it was a Christmas treat or a school trip. Do you remember a scary witch, a long legged puppet or shedding a tear over the star-crossed lovers?

At Theatre Hullabaloo, we believe that going to the theatre for the first time is an important thing to do and should be part of everyone's childhood.

We're proud to be responsible for lots of 'Theatre Firsts' and know how important they are. Some of our favourite Theatre Firsts are from parents or grandparents who missed out on going to the theatre when they were small and are enjoying discovering these experiences with their little ones.

In 2013, we launched our Theatre Firsts Campaign to help celebrate first memories of going to the theatre and we would love our audience members to share their #theatrefirstie's with us on our Facebook or Twitter page. This could be a memory from when you were young, or a new memory created when taking your child or grandchild to the theatre for the first time. If you could share this memory along with a photo of yourself or child enjoying their first theatre experience, even better!

Please help us to tell the world how important Theatre Firsts can be!
